1965 women survivors, 'exiled' in the camp
Hundreds of female political prisoners who were considered part of organizations affiliated with the Indonesian Communist Party (PKI) and involved in 1965 Tragedy were "exiled" in a former leprosy hospital in the Dutch colonial era in Plantungan, Central Java, which was used as a rehabilitation camp for women political prisoners.
From 1976 to 1979, they were gradually released, but the trauma and stigma they have experienced still remain today, in their old age.This is their story.
